Heating Blankets

Heating blankets are pretty common these days, especially in more developed countries, like the United States and other western countries. They have been used for a while now and most people probably know what they are used for, how much they cost and what you can get with them. Because of that, today we are going to talk a bit about how eating blankets work and a bit about their history.

The first heating blankets were invented in the late 19th century, but the first commercial ones were only introduced after the war. They were made to be used by elderly people, people with injuries that needed constant warmth and normal people as well. At first, these heating blankets were not widely available because of the high prices, but eventually the manufacturing techniques evolved and heating blankets became available for everyone to use.

Slowly but surely, the heating blankets developed into high tech gadgets that can keep you warm exactly the way you want them to. Of course, in the first days of the heating blankets there were some misfortunes, with people being severely burnt because of the blankets and there is also a report that a man was killed in a fire caused by the heating blanket. That type of problems has been drastically reduced in the last few years because the manufacturers started to implement thermostats in their heating blankets, allowing you to set a temperature and the blanket keeps that temperature without exceeding at any point.

Heating blankets have a network of thin metal wires that are heated by electric current passing through them. By controlling the amount and intensity of that electric current you can control the temperature. These days, the most advanced heating blankets available come fitted with thermostats that control the temperature and you are safe to use them.

Every now and then there is a chance that the network fails and you have a nonworking heated blanket. This is very rare, but you can fix it easily by restoring the network again. You can use a letcon to have your heated blanket working again.

For most of you heated blankets are not very expensive and you can probably afford one, but what about poor people that can't afford them? Well, for them, there is the second hand market for heated blankets. You can find perfectly good heated blankets for a couple of dollars if you know where to look. Make sure that you can test the heated blanket first before you pay for it and that it is in working order. Also look for any lose cables that are not isolated properly or you might get electrocuted. Of course, you can't use the blanket in water because it will short circuit and kill you, but other than that you can use it whenever you want. Heated blankets are there for you so you can keep warm not matter how cold it gets. Just remember to turn it off when you're done getting warm.
